Australian volunteer, Fiona, has recently returned from several weeks in Namibia, and here is what she had to say about her experience at the Big Cat Release and Tracking project and the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary.
“Organising my trip through Amanzi Travel was one of the best decisions of my travelling life.“
“I had the most amazing time, and none of that would have been possible without all of Gemma’s hard work in organising everything. As well as organizing my time at the volunteer projects, she also organized transfers to and from the airport, and accommodation after leaving the project. It was nice not having to worry about anything while I was away – a number of other people did have issues with their transfers.
My time in the Namib desert was wonderful. The accommodation was fantastic! – a nice little luxury from the wildlife sanctuary. It’s a beautiful place. It was a lot of fun going on the game counts, making the enrichment for the cheetahs at Solitaire and climbing the dunes. There’s so much natural beauty in Namibia
I really enjoyed my time at the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary. The baboons are beautiful! Sleeping with a baby baboon was an awesome ‘once in a lifetime‘ experience, which I will treasure forever.
How valuable was the volunteer work?
I think the volunteer work was very valuable. They are currently building two new camps at the Namibia sanctuary, so a lot of volunteer time and effort is going into finishing these. I have seen photos of the progress since leaving, and it’s a nice feeling, knowing that I have contributed to something that will enrich an animals life.
“Gemma also organised transfers to and from the airport, and accommodation after leaving the project.”
How was your personal experience with Amanzi Travel?
Organising my trip through Amanzi Travel was one of the best decisions of my travelling life. I’ve got nothing but praise for all of the hard work Gemma, and the rest of the Amanzi Travel team do Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I would recommend Amanzi Travel to anyone, and will definitely be back to organise another volunteer project soon! “
It’s always fabulous to hear from volunteers at the end of their African adventure. Good luck with getting back to reality Fiona, and helping organise weddings!!
