Our Photo Competition Winners

“You don’t take a photograph, you make it” Ansel Adams

Well, the wait it over……. Here at the Amanzi Travel head office, with the help of professional photographer, Nick Bowyer, we’ve taken a vote and picked our Winners.

It’s been a massive challenge to whittle the submitted photographs down to only two, as they were of a very good standard this year, with a great mixture of fun images and good animal portraits – we’ll definitely be adding another blog soon with some of the other photo entries !!

The winners stood out for us because they are  strong images, that demonstrate attention to foreground and background detail, and have a clear point of focus.

First Prize

And the 1st Prize Winner goes to Debbie Lowe, from Warwickshire, UK, with her photo of the two cheetah cubs. Congratulations Debbie 🙂

The photo of the lizard was taken during a short walk around the red dunes near Dead Vlei, Namibia, looking for wildlife in the hot desert.” explained Gabor.

Technically Challenging

Although not the usual African wildlife photo, Debbie‘s photo of the night storm was a technically challenging photo to take and warrants a special mention.

I have tried for years to take a photo of lightning and kept trying when I was in South Africa, as there was a lot of it (I think the other volunteers thought I was mad, out in that weather taking photos!). In the end, I actually got that photo with a little compact camera!  Unbelievable.” – Debbie Lowe.

Thank you again for all of your submissions, and  a massive Congratulations to the winners. We’ll be posting off your prize money today, and look forward to helping you arrange your next adventure, with even more photographic memories to share 🙂

“Beauty can be seen in all things – seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph” – Matt Hardy

A truly life changing experience, working on wildlife and community volunteering projects in Africa over eight years ago, convinced Gemma Whitehouse to give up her job as a Marketing Manager for an international organisation and use her skills and expertise to set up a company that would offer others the same amazing opportunities with a service second to none - thus Amanzi Travel was born.
