PROFESSIONAL FIELD GUIDE – 1 YEAR
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK AND RESERVE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND BOTSWANA
A one year course designed to supply the safari industry with high calibre FGASA qualified field guides. This course would also suit those looking to gain the ultimate bush learning experience with the time to dedicate to their passion. Students will have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of South Africa’s most experienced guides across a variety of sites that will give them experience of everything Africa has to offer. Course attendees can obtain FGASA Level 1, FGASA Trails Guide and FGASA 2 Theory.
For those who don’t have a year but would still like to gain a formal FGASA Level 1 qualification – the 55 Day course is a great option. This course runs several times during the year and you can choose the dates and camp you would like to train at as detailed on the overview below
FGASA LEVEL 1 FIELD GUIDE COURSE – 55 DAYS
RESERVES IN SOUTH AFRICA, BOTSWANA AND VICTORIA FALLS
For anyone intending to become a Field Guide – or any other career within the wildlife industry – then this FGASA accredited 55 day course is for you! Every minute of the course is structured to maximise your practical experience in the bush. A great opportunity for the adventurous type wanting to experience the excitement of the bush whilst gaining a greater understanding of how to interpret the ecology. Students should expect the unexpected while taking part in game drives and bush walks where they will see Africa at its very best. Training will be split between two wilderness camps, maximising exposure to different areas, wildlife, biomes and biodiversity. Although this course forms the foundation for a career in field guiding (and many other wildlife orientated careers) many students enrol onto this course for a gap year experience and students of 18+ years of age, who hold a valid driving licence and from all walks of life are welcome to join.
If you are an enthusiast who wants to experience living in the Africa bush amongst the abundance of wildlife and learning all about the environment and the animals that live there without taking formal qualification their is the option to join the 28 Day Safari Guide Course or one of the shorter EcoQuest courses. SAFARI GUIDE COURSE – 28 DAY
GAME RESERVES IN SOUTH AFRICA, BOTSWANA AND KENYA
This 28 day short course will give participants a real insight into the daily life of a South African guide, with sleep outs and night drives, and the chance to experience the African Bush and its wildlife in a unique and in-depth way. An ideal opportunity for anyone passionate about nature and looking for a bush holiday whilst also learning about the landscape and wildlife of Africa.
FIELD GUIDE EXPERIENCE (ECOQUEST) – 1, 2 OR 3 WEEKS
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK AND RESERVES, SOUTH AFRICA OR BOTSWANA
This course, of one, two or three weeks’ duration, is a great opportunity for those with an adventurous spirit wanting to gain a greater understanding of nature whilst experiencing the excitement of the bush, and an ideal option for the keen student looking to give guiding a try before embarking on a career and formal qualifications. Students will also learn how to drive a 4 x 4 vehicle, ot identify common birds, plants and trees and how to track game. The course, which incorporates certain aspects of the 28 day Safari Course, is primarily aimed at students looking for a more in-depth bush experience but who do not have four weeks away from their work obligations
