Here at Amanzi Travel, we often get asked “why should I volunteer in Africa now?” or “when is the best time to go to Africa?”
But you know, sometimes the best time to go is, Just because…..
Some people need an indestructible reason to do something. But NOW could be your time, and if you want it enough, it’s just a matter of putting a plan into action to make it happen.
So, do you have a Just Because reason that you want to go Africa, or have been Africa?
1 – It’s your ‘special’ birthday – we’ve had quite a few “Gulp, I’m turning 40” moments! Or “It’s my 30th, so I want to do something really special”.
2 – It’s you’re anniversary – what better way than to take advantage of some of the volunteer projects who have double rooms, or even have a ‘luxury’ option accommodation, such as the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary)
3 – It’s your honeymoon – you’ve always wanted to do a trip of a lifetime, so what better excuse now
4 – You want to get engaged –imagine telling this story back home,
of how you proposed/were proposed to. Totally unforgettable!
5 – You’ve actually got some time off work – there are trips anything from a 3 day overland trip of Kenya to see some of its highlights, to three months volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary or teaching at a local school, to a one year Field Guide course
6 – You’ve been made redundant – what better excuse to take some time out for yourself to take stock, do something amazing for other people/wildlife, and re-focus on where you want to go in the future
7 – You need an excuse to get away and unwind – everyone always says that Africa gets under your skin and you always want to go back again. By doing something totally different, this allows you to see your life from a different perspective and re-evaluate your priorities
8 – You need time together – there’s never enough time in our modern society, and unless you prioritise time together, this can be the last thing on your list. With a planned trip away, it will give you the chance you’ve been waiting for, to spend an amazing time together
9 – You need time alone – whether its volunteering in Africa or taking an overland tour in Africa, these trips are the perfect opportunity to do something amazing on your own. However, you will meet other like-minded people on your adventure, so you’ll never really be on your own.
10 – It’s your chance to catch up with your mum/brother/Grandma/best friend/sports team… – what a great story to tell the grandchildren, cousins, friends, teammates back home
11 – You want to gain experience working with animals/working with doctors/working with children –
a perfect opportunity to get hands on experience, whether its to further your CV and career, or just to try something new
12 – You deserve it – we all need to reward ourselves sometimes
13 – You want to do something amazing – our trips will certainly tick this box
Judith, aged 62 from the UK, had always wanted to gain an insight into another culture, and see so much of Africa. Well, after to chatting with Pat, at Amanzi Travel, she has just returned from her own trip of a lifetime. Judith spent 4 weeks volunteering in Zanzibar, which “I feel immensely satisfied at having achieved at my age”. Then she was joined by two of her friends from the UK, for a further 5 week overland trip, from Zanzibar to Cape Town.
“Having thought about doing this trip for so long, I can’t believe I’ve done it but I did and have experienced a trip of a lifetime – thank you Amanzi Travel. Also just to add, Pat was great, helpful and encouraging, she really helped me decide to ‘go for it’.”
I’d love to hear what your reason was, or would be, for going on a trip to Africa. Please do write a Comment below, and let us all know your “Just Because” story…….
